Don’t bother reading this if you aren’t Chris Burns from Redding, California. Listen Chris, it’s a new indie game every week with you. I don’t have the time to play all of these nor the money to buy all of them. However, if you really want me to play “Return of the Obra Dinn,” you can take your own hard-earned money and donate to this campaign.

Reddit is saying that the game is only about ten hours long and the nature of its puzzle solving elements makes it so it has zero replay value. I can’t justify spending my own disposable income on something I’ll put down after only a few days. But if you insist that “everyone” needs to experience Lucas Pope’s brilliant weaving of narrative and gameplay through a truly unique art style which provokes my nostalgia for old 1-bit Macintosh games, then just spot me the twenty bucks.

Again, if you’re not Chris, please just scroll on by. I’m not looking for charity. I’m just simply telling my friend that if he wants to talk to me about how much “Return of the Obra Dinn” made him feel like a real detective, he’s going to have to cough up some dough of his own.

So Chris, I’m drawing a line in the sand. If you want me to step away from Warzone and play this game, or any other game you suggest, just send me the dollar amount and I will play it eventually when I feel like it.
