I’m panicking here. My date’s looking at the wine list and I told her not to worry about the price. I’m watching her eyes slowly move down the list so she must be well out of my price range. I’ve only got $183 in my bank account. You gotta help me out.

I’m not sure what she’s ordering. It’s French. It sounds fancy. She wouldn’t order one of the crazy expensive wines, would she? Nobody actually orders those. But even the second least expensive wine is $40 a bottle. Could you cover one of the mid-tier wines? Just to be safe. I think that $80 should cover it.

I could ask her to split the bill. That’s progressive, right? But at the same time, you can’t tell someone, “don’t worry about the price” and then ask them to pay half. Please, don’t let me embarrass myself.

Okay, so we both got appetizers, that’s about $36, plus another $50 for the entrees. I wonder if we can share a dessert? No, no, I can’t cheap out now. That’s another $30. Plus the wine, then add tax and gratuity… oh wow. Okay, look if you can give me at least $100, I don’t want to be cutting it close.

I’m gonna have a panic attack here. Please, help me out before the bill comes. If it cost $183.01, my card’s gonna be declined. I don’t want to look like a complete loser on our second date. I need you to buy me some time, before she really gets to know me.
