This holiday season, you’re gonna see a lot of classic gifts being given. The earth tone tie for the overworked dad, the novelty wine glass for the kooky aunt, the self-help book for the single woman over twenty-six. But there’s one classic gift that’s in need of an upgrade: the holiday candle.

Forget all of the worn out scents like Snickerdoodle, Pine Needle, and Snowy Night. Snow is just cold, dirty water. You want your house to smell really fragrant. You know what smells good? Candles… right after they’ve been blown out. Why waste thirty minutes burning a Hyacinth Bloom scented candle just so you can enjoy the warm, smoky aroma of that candle once it’s extinguished?

To make this happen in time for Christmas, all I need is the money to fund my research, the demand for this product, and the validation that I’m not losing my mind when I say that the smell of a candle right after you blow it out is actually really nice! Also, I’m gonna plump the insurance plan on my house up a little bit because I imagine this process is going to involve a lot of fire and some trial and error.

So this year when you mail a gift to someone you haven’t seen in eight months, make it something that you’d want to receive yourself. Make it a candle that always smells like it’s not actually burning while it’s burning.
